"I am pro choice, because having a child is serious business. I'm saying an abortion should be for everyone, but it should be for those who can't take care of a child because of actual reasons, or if they've raped, or if they'll have a child who will grow with terrible defects and they know they wont raise them right. I was raped at 14 and later found out I was pregnant with their child, it was sickening knowing that I would have to give birth and raise the child of a man who not only raped me but took my virginity. My family was very unstable as well, we didn't have the means to raise the child, and of course they say I could have put the child up for adoption but I was at a very large health risk for delivery because I was so small and i was terrified knowing that something horribly wrong could happen to myself. Why would I bring a child into this world if I knew i couldn't give it the right life, i would be putting my health and my life at risk, and i would have to keep going through the horrible memories of my attack."

It is a myth that convenience has anything to do with it made up by people who turn their noses at 14 year old rape victims and claim that such valid reasons are the "minority.""

Every thing that is brought into life should deserve the to breath to learn to explore life has a way of carving its self out it just makes sense as a catholic I also believe that god has a plan and that you shouldn't change it. "well the thing is, that a lot of people use an abortion as a fixer. if they dont want the child they can get rid of it with just a couple works and their signature on the paper that gives them the freedom to just throw away a precious child. The thing is with rape is, its not your fault it happened but why is abortion the answer? There is always adoption, yes why would you want to bring in something that would remind you of a bad time? but , you are being just as atrocious as the horrible person that raped you, or you made a bad choice with."

"What was done to you is inexcusable and viscous. Although I am Pro-Life, I do believe the death penalty should be used for pigs like rapists and murderers. I cannot bear to realize what courage it took for you to even write this. You're not a victim-- you're a survivor. Your (possible?) abortion was a valid one to consider since it posed serious health risks-- I am not trying to be insensitive, but I venture and write here to say that aborting the child who had no guilt or blame in the act whatsoever is a victory for him. I do not believe this is any fault of your own desperation for wholeness again in life. However, he claims a victory because he forced you to violate your own womb out of fear for your life and livelihood. I would hope that one day you may see that the millions of women who do abortions not for causes of your own (and thank God that that many women are not subjugated to that atrocity), but out of convenience or pressure are violating their wombs with other valid choices. I could see how you felt that you had no reasonable choice other than what you chose. Do they?"

"A fetus may be a life. But it's not "innocent", in the sense of being incapable of harm. In fact, every pregnant woman goes through a LOT of pain and suffering because of the fetus. It is not right to force someone to suffer on behalf of someone else.

A world that sees the bodily autonomy of pregnant women as less valuable than the life of the fetus is, in a word, sexist. It assumes and takes for granted that women have an obligation to suffer physiologically on behalf of others that in no context is assumed of men.

American citizens cannot be forced to self-incriminate in court, regardless of whether the citizen has knowledge that will save lives.

If someone tries to rape you and the only way to avoid rape is to kill the rapist, no one would call you a murderer, regardless of whether your life was ever on the line.

You cannot be forced to donate organs to other people.

If the unborn are granted equal rights to everyone else, then causing other people intense physical pain from which there is no other escape is reason enough to allow abortion. Abortion is self-defense. Not murder."

"NotoTorture: You are wasting your breath. No matter your argument, people like GST will run in a circle. GST says "And if a woman cannot be forced to carry a child for nine months, how can you justify forcing a man to pay 18 yrs for a child he does not want?" Yet when someone finally points out that in many states a man may walk away from child support if he also walks away from being a father they will suddenly say that this is irrelevant, and loop back to some other bogus argument.

When it is pointed out that when analyzing "The fetus threatens pain, hardly ever death" that just as we don't know which mugger threatens death, we don't know which fetus threatens death (which can come very quickly as in the case of eclampsia and HELLP), they will again say that this is irrelevant (usually sprinkled in with "a fetus is innocent a mugger is not"). Pointing out that before often invasive medical care it was common for women to die from pregnancy complications, they will just say "not now," again ignoring data refuting the claim "hardly ever death." They have no logic, or they are intentionally ignoring huge swaths of data. I don't know which, but the circles will make you dizzy if you decide to attempt a rational discussion."

And I must be honest that I find your statements all over these boards that the "suffering" of a women is temporary! WTF kind of response is that. A lot of sadistic things that can save lives are temporary. I do not want "temporary torture" as my new standard to what is acceptable. Your analogy to 18 years of child support makes you sound bitter. However, to be comparable if the child needed a kidney or bone marrow due to a disease, the dad should be strapped down it it must be taken from him (amazingly, I have people who say just this! They support 100% laws that require both parents to do everything in their power to keep a child alive. They say both parents created the child, so both are responsible for food, organs, etc. And they support arresting parents to force organ donations for children.)."

    • -1 +1 -2 GST Mar. 2, 2016
"There are several problems with your. 1) In 99% of cases the woman was an active willing, and wiling participant in the actions that result in the fetus while the fetus had no say in it. Self-defense is not a legal defense if you cause the situation. 2) Under legal doctrine, you are justified in meeting force with a proportionate force. The fetus threatens pain, hardly ever death, so death is not a proportionate response in almost all cases. 3) the pain and suffering of the woman is temporary, the killing of the fetus is permanent. 4) you do not cause the people to need the organs and your denying them is not killing them, it is only refusing to save them. Abortion is actively killing the fetus. And if a woman cannot be forced to carry a child for nine months, how can you justify forcing a man to pay 18 yrs for a child he does not want? Isn't forcing him to work for years to support something he never wanted akin to indentured servitude? He should have to take care of the life he helped create but so should the woman."

"As a man, I don't have to worry about pregnancy. I could, theoretically, have sex with a girl then get her pregnant then just leave. Why should I care about that child? Well I do care about children, which is why I support abortion. I want, at least, a woman to be able to make up for the mistakes of her male partner by denying that man's ability to ruin her life. Also, children who are born, but unwanted, could grow up with a impoverished single mother and be denied the privilege of a good childhood that some children get by default. I would only support banning abortion if the adoption process was perfect and flawless, and we could guarantee every child a happy life with a adopted parents. But we can't. So we need abortion so men can't destroy a woman's life in about 5 seconds, we also need it so no child is unwanted."

If you have a kid that you didn't want you aren't going to treat the baby the same as if it was your own kid. Having a kid is hard enough and knowing that he/she was not your choice is a hard thing to live with, you would have a hard time living with that kid, because every time you looked at him/her you would be reminded that this was not your choice. "There's an idea of something called bodily autonomy, which means you have rights to your own body. Cadavers cannot have organs removed unless they had given consent during their lifetime. Saying abortion should be illegal is saying that a fetus, which (at most points in time) isn't alive yet, has more rights than the woman carrying it. You are also saying that a dead body has more rights than a pregnant woman.
Abortions happen because the mother cannot care for her child. Maybe its rape, maybe she was drunk, maybe it was failed contraception, but this woman can't take care of her unborn child, so she is giving both her fetus and herself a better life.
Yet another idea; 'killing' the baby. You say that it is alive because its heart is beating. A body is declared dead six minutes after the heart stops-when they are brain dead. That gives the first responders or doctors or whoever time to restart their heart. Brain activity in a fetus (or their first detectable movement, called 'quickening') starts between week 13-25, varying from pregnancy to pregnancy. The fetus is not 'alive' when its heart starts beating. It is 'alive' when it begins to have brain activity. Do some research."

"I think abortion should be legal because in the reproductive process millions of reproductive cells die. The other thing about it is that the world is getting overpopulated and has a limit of how much people it can hold. Were going to have to do something about it, Abortion would be more of an option in this case. The other thing is that we all die at different ages for different reasons. We live, we die. Eventually we'll all be forgotten. So a baby dieing in a womb hurts people but in the grand scheme of the universe it Isn't all that bad. Another point I want to make is that when we die we very well could be reincarnated. Under this logic an aborted baby would simply come back as a different creature. In a Christian sense the aborted child could go to Heaven because the baby was alive, basically baptized in the womans stomach then dies. In this case the baby didn't do anything wrong so it likely went to Heaven. Another thing is that as time goes on we all become forgotten. The baby would probably haven't made a difference, provided someone else wouldn't have done so in his case. The baby also could leave a negative mark on this planet. To be honest Hitler is an example, If Hitler was aborted the world would be a better place."

Even though I'm Pro-Choice, I have to admit the "Rape" argument can be easily defeated. Abortions due to rape make up 0.1% of abortions."

No matter how much we educate, pressure, scare, guilt, or try to talk women out of abortion, there will always be a percentage of women who will abort. Therefor, we need a safe and hygienic place for them to do this. Many of the people against abortion are also the ones against sex Ed in schools or contraception for women and crazy enough, against the one place that educates how NOT to get pregnant, Planned Parenthood."

"Abortion is Freedom. The sooner it's shared worldwide the better. Everywhere Life is out of control. Just follow the biology. We mow lawns. We take antibiotics. We chemoblast cancer. Human reproduction is equally out of control. Females are born with a few million eggs. Almost all die. Eggs erupt monthly unbidden expecting to become fertilized. Males produce countless millions of sperms. Almost all die. If zygotes do form many fail. Some survive but Life offers no guarantee. It's silly to expect humans to exhibit more care than God or Nature or Whatever You Call It does. When people accept the biology, then the emotion surrounding this topic will end, just as the emotion ended in the cases of Empire, Slavery, Monarchy, Civil Rights and Gay Rights. The future is here. People deserve to decide what's best for themselves in an environment of freedom, compassion and privacy. That is law and it will spread worldwide."

In some cases young girls are molested, raped, and eventually become pregnant, that child shouldn't grow up without a father for something that wasn't able to control the actions happening. Not all pregnant women or teenagers decide to have sex, now that the amount of rape happening has gone up many mothers are stuck having to raise children by themselves instead of just aborting the child and not have to worry much about the child..."

Furthermore, as a male, I honestly should have no say in what women have the right to do and not do with their bodies and their children. While an abortion can be an extremely traumatic experience, it may be necessary in some cases, and women should be able to make their own choice in such a case."

As does a baby outside the womb. For that matter, so does an adult. We all need support to survive. Abortion is murder and just because it is lawful does not make it right. What have we become as human beings when we kill our own babies?"

Abortion if done legally thus far is very carefully controlled so that it is truly not taken lightly should it be necessary for an abortion to take place. Reasons for the child's health as well as the Mother are one example of why abortions in our country have truly not been taken lightly. So for me it is much or cruel to allow children into a life that could incapacitate or cause them long term pain or death. Than to allow for abortions to take place that as I mentioned are taken very seriously."

"To some yes it is immoral and just wrong but not many know all the reasons for an abortion. People think that the women who abort are wrong and don't know right from wrong, but women know if they can bring a baby into a good stable life. Maybe there was something that happened to that specific woman that makes her disgusted of the fact that they are pregnant not of the baby but how she got impregnated. All women think about it, the thought of aborting doesn't come easy but they want the best for themselves and the baby, for example, some mothers suffer from postpartum depression and the child will later grow and feel rejected because his mother doesn't want him. Some say to put the baby up for adoption and yes there are kids that find a good family but they all wonder why their birth parent rejected them some even become deeply depressed and suicidal. And another issue that isn't talked about as much is how the system of foster care is broken, kids go from house to house and end up getting abuse or adopted for money even sold. So yes abortion sounds bad but the consequences of forcing a woman to have a baby she doesn't want are equally wrong or worse"

The bible allows for husbands to abort their wives under just the suspicion of adultery, so if there are any Christians who think the bible denies abortion I urge you to open your bible to the book of numbers, chapter 5. Also, if there are reasons that Christians are against abortion other than the "Thou shalt not kill" commandment, please let me know as I have never found any.

Also, quick note on Numbers 5: Depending on what version of the bible you read, it may say something about the thigh rotting and dropping. The thigh is another word for the womb and is corrected for in other versions of the bible and backed up in the Tora."

See Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before I were born I dedicated you,"
Plus, what's wrong with "Thou shalt not kill"? That blatantly confirms abortion as wrong, as abortion is killing. That alone should be enough for anyone to condemn abortion!"

It was my choice to have my baby and she hasn't held me back in anyway. However to the people who abuse the privilege of abortions by using them as a form of birth control I completely disagree with. Abortions are resources for people who can't take care of the child, are in abusive situations, victims of rape, are having a child who has developed abnormalities that threaten both the child or mother's lives, or threaten the mothers life due to circumstances beyond her control. Pregnancy shouldn't be something to hold someone back. It should be a choice you make that you grow from not something forced upon you."

And I think it is unjust or unfair to force a pregnant woman to have a child that was not planned because some rapist decided to steal her life and her plans away. Or that some woman whom is struggling with abuse and a hard childhood with traumas does not really know anything about what needs to change within her to make better choices for herself and her life. As society we are so quick to focus on the wrongs of people and society and with that more conflicts, more wars, more problems escalate. Negativity never made a good change only more problems. And our medical and health care is mediocre in comparison to many other countries including our closest neighbor Canada. I know so many including myself that were never diagnosed and treated correctly and struggled to make a life. Why hold someone who is ignorant as the problem? We should be educating and giving more choices and options for people that need it. B/c If I had been helped and knew more then I would have done better things and lived better. And the problem is not to stop aspects of life from existing but educating and helping people so they know and make better choices."

3.) "If you had sex you should've known the consequences"- We never chose to be the ones to have to bear a child. Its not our fault that if we have sex we have to worry about kids.

4.) "Why would you kill an innocent child?"- The child isn't even able to think and no child is innocent

5.) "Abortion is murder!"- That explains why when we kill an animal its okay because they aren't human and they can't feel pain or think, yet an alien fetus who can't do anything should be cared for.

That said, I am generally pro choice BUT I am NOT in favor of late term abortions UNLESS they are associated with cases where there are severe birth defects or severe risk to the mother. While I understand there may be cases where giving birth may result in severe hardship to the mother, I feel that by 21 weeks we are no longer talking about a fetus but a human life and that abortion may not be a humane solution - from the baby's perspective. My understanding is that a very small percentage of late term abortions are cases are NOT associated with severe birth defects or severe risk to the mother. This is what we should be talking about. Not simply whether one unconditionally supports abortion or not, which is stupid."

Their arguments sound similar to the "force a woman to be pregnant" crowd. They decide these inmates lost rights by doing something, and can save people's lives if we take their rights to their body away. Do you think a woman should be arrested for eating foods her doctor says are unsafe when pregnant (like fish with mercury, or if she has gestational diabetes)? This happens! Women with gestational diabetes have been arrested for not treating it, and then not even given prenatal care while in custody. You make no sense if you think forcing someone to be pregnant is somehow different than forcing them to do anything else with their body.

If you use your hand to stab someone and the police arrest you, to be equivalent to the woman the police would then require you to donate a kidney to save the person you just attacked.

So opinions are influenced by families who possibly would not let one quote ' be of an opinion' Some believe they have not been subjected to this from their family. While seemingly this is true in reality maybe not true as parents who were influenced can be blinded from dependent childhoods and their children know this. If you look at our society we are all told everything from wait in line to take a letter or number. Basically forced into submission which is not conscious awareness of anyone in truth. While there can be no real conclusions anyway why do we live them as if there were?

After all, that is why there has been an increase in police violence recently, people disobeying minor laws and then resisting arrest, causing the police to have to become violent to stop the criminal. If abortion becomes illegal by state law, then that means that people caught trying to get an abortion can be killed for breaking that law.

I must ask, in what universe does that make sense? If someone does not want their child, the government has no right to step in and ban them from dealing with their body as they see fit, and the government especially has no right to kill someone if they resist the police after being caught trying to abort their children. And does it make sense to kill the mother, successfully terminating both her and the baby, in the end creating another, much more painful, deadly abortion?"

The problem with all of these pro life people is the fact that they forget that you also have to care for the baby once it's born. If you have a child infected with the trisomy 21 mutation you have to take into accountability heart defects, blood disorders, leukemia, impaired intellect, dimentia, pre mature aging and many other medical problems. Treating these type of children takes money, time and a toll on women, families and communities worldwide. It can be financially and mentally detrimental to women and to families. These children have to be supervised their entire lives.
Now, let's leave the Down syndrome kids alone and go back to what we would call normal babies....
They also cost money, time and patience. When children are unwanted, raised in poverty they are more likely to be abused. The parents of unwanted/unplanned pregnancy enroll in social welfare programs and then get criticized by the same people who preach pro life. They say if you can't afford a child, than don't have one.
The women who bare unwanted children and abuse their children get told if you didn't want to raise it, you shouldn't have had it.

Plus, I looked at some photos of babies two months in, and there are definitely distinctive humanlike features. Technically, we are all just a clump of cells!"

"There are at least 5 different perspectives on when human life begins. Metabolic, Genetic, Embryological, Neurological and Environmental.

Only one puts "the beginning" at conception. The single human cell called the "Zygote". This perspective has fallen out of favor among Scientists for a variety of reasons but, it matters not.

The one fact that on which reasonable people on both sides agree is that "Experts Disagree", whether from Science, Philosophy or Bioethics.

    "Expert Disagree" = "I don't know"

It is absurd nonsense to claim law is justified on the basis of "I don't know".

How does one value "I don't know" against the right of a woman to her own body ?

For those who suggest that "I don't know" is good rational for a law that forces a woman to pass a large object through a small orifice...

I suggest make a law that sends "Bob the Sodomizer" over on a weekly basis. The justification would be "I don't know" or "We do not know that this would not do this person some good"

I suggest that this person would understand very quickly that such justification for law is a bad idea."

"Many people say that abortion should be illegal because it goes against religion and it is killing an "innocent baby." There are two things wrong with these ideas. Although "God" is against it, who's to say there even is a "God" that exists? And if "He" does why would "He" go against the killing of a "innocent baby?" Technically the baby isn't born yet.It is not alive meaning it is not a person yet. Because of this,it has no rights at this mooment and since it cannot think nor talk nor even breathe, it, therefore cannot have or even make a decision. Lastly, this is America, Home of the free, and if you want to go against the Constitution and say that a person cannot be allowed to make a decision, then go to another country. Also, stay out of other people's business. You have no right making decisions about another person's personal life. Thank you."

"By using "stupid choice you made" you are still using pregnancy and a baby as punishment. You are stating that children are punishments.

Really, I only have an issue with the pregnancy part. Pregnancy is really hard on a body and can kill you. I don't know a single woman who had a baby and wasn't injured. If you want to punish people for having unprotected sex by making them have kids, let them get the abortion and then make them adopt a child. There are honestly thousands and thousands of children in the foster care system. No shortage of existing children to force on people who have unprotected sex.

However, honestly, people are not going around having unprotected sex to be "stupid" and get abortions. Condoms break and birth control fails. I know someone born with the IUD her mom was using as birth control. Or should people with birth control failure also be punished by being forced to have kids?"

Above all, ironically, Life is about Death. Knowing the biology of Life, isn't it silly to expect humans to exhibit more care than Life itself does?? Of course. We have achieved a measure of triumph over Life's haphazard, wasteful plan. We share it worldwide."

Abortion is only legal within a certain amount of time, usually before the end of the first trimester, before the zygote becomes a fetus and starts to develop into what will be a person. After that, it becomes manslaughter. A legal abortion is not murder. If you plant a seed, and you later remove the seed from the ground, did you cut down a tree? I'm going to have to say no to that one. If you don't want an abortion? Don't have one. But do not deny someone else's right to a safe and secure procedure. "Part 1 of many: abortion should be legal because, in this day and age, there is no valid argument for making it illegal.

Example: The US Constitution uses the word "person" throughout, and doesn't use the word "human" even once. Therefore, to make abortion illegal under the Constitution, it is necessary to prove that an unborn human qualifies as a person. Well, besides invoking dictionary definitions (which were created by humans for human purposes, and thus are biased), abortion opponents CANNOT prove that unborn humans qualify as persons. There is vastly more scientific evidence, in fact, that dolphins qualify as persons!

There is also the matter of the Census; the Constitution REQUIRES that all persons be counted, but NO unborn human has EVER been counted as a person, in any Census, including the first Census of 1790, with its details specified by the Founding Fathers. Therefore, not only do we know what the highly religious Founding Fathers thought about unborn human personhood, we have more than two centuries of Legal Precedent, in which personhood has not been associated with unborn humans.

So not only can abortion remain legal, it could have been legalized long before Roe vs Wade."

"This reply is for Luke, who also replied to the above. Dogs and other animals have rights for exactly two reasons. One is actually the "property rights" of the owners of those animals.

The other relates to "endangered species". The latter absolutely does not apply to unborn humans, and the former applies to the extent that a dog-owner is allowed to have the dog killed.

Simply because an unborn human is not a person, it IS the property of the pregnant woman. And so it can be killed when unwanted. Think of all the "runt of the litter" farm animals routinely killed by their owners when unwanted.

Whenever one is not killed, it is because some person wants it to live, and is willing to pay for it. Well, if you want someone else's pregnancy to be carried to term, YOU should pay for what YOU want. And YOU should continue to pay for wanting that human to live, after birth, by paying ALL the expenses for 18 years.

Why not? In almost any other situation, people are expected to pay for what they want. But abortion opponents are hypocrites, wanting others to pay for what the abortion opponents want."

"Part 2a of many: abortion should be legal because, in this day and age, there is no valid argument for making it illegal.

Many anti-abortion arguments depend on dictionary definitions, mostly these: "A member of the species Homo Sapiens has specific DNA and is a human being" and "A person is a human being". Therefore any entity having full H.Sapiens DNA is a person. However, it is easy to prove that that logic is WRONG.

We simply examine a human cuticle cell, which has full DNA, and is killed in large numbers during manicures and pedicures. Modern "cloning" and "stem cell" research shows that EVERY such cell has the potential to divide many times, becoming a whole human body, just like a human zygote.

Potential is POTENTIAL. Opposing abortion means insisting that that potential MUST be fulfilled. Thus if the zygote is a human being because of its DNA and its potential, so also is the cuticle cell, and EVERY other human cell that has the full set of DNA! Manicurists kill many human beings, cuticle cells with potential, and so are mass murderers! OR, we conclude the dictionary definition of "human being" is WRONG, and therefore the anti-abortion logic based on the dictionary definition is also wrong."

"I think that abortion should legally remain an option. Some women may not feel ready to have a baby. If the choice of having an abortion is taken away from them, then they are forced to give birth. After giving birth, many of these women may give up their babies for adoption. There are so many things that could go wrong after that. Children may be adopted into families that cannot properly care for them. Some foster homes may not be as welcoming and caring, despite passing social service tests. Until they are 18, these children have to go through a stressful life, moving from home to home, if they are not adopted. After they are 18, they are all alone- new set of problems will be released. If a woman knows that she is not ready and will be giving up her baby once it is born, abortion during the early stages if pregnancy may be the way to go."

It taught hygeine in a time of no hygeine, gave a written law when most societies had none. In addition it was ahead of ancient culture's in its moral stability and fair trials "in the eyes of two or three witnesses." If more people had their heads inthe bible for the thousands of years instead of waiting for the "eighth-grade biology book" then infectious diseases would have been better prevented and epidemics like the black death and the spanish influenza could have been more quickly contained. Finally, your argument is a form of the logical fallicy 'dicto simpliciter' or your sweeping statement that pro-life activists "do not know a single thing about embryonic development and pregnancy". I'm sorry but I can't accept a fallacy like this as a valid argument."

There are definitely reasons I think are more valid than others, but ultimately other people can't control whether a woman should make a lifetime commitment or not. The most valid reason in my opinion is a situation where the mother and/or baby will die in birth. How can you possibly force a woman to die like that? This is also mostly a religious debate, because if you are religious you think a fetus has a soul. But if you're not, like myself, you don't really consider it a person until about 24 weeks in, where it can survive outside."

Yes everyone says their is equal opportunity for both genders in todays generation, but is there really. Women are held back by the barriers of society and social norms. It is normal to think of women's roles in households and never in high positions in companies. By letting women get to choose their own decision for their OWN body, this helps empower them and help them build confidence. This is the woman's choice not some stranger in a crowd or the government. It's her decision and people should respect it and instead of belittling her, help her through the difficult situation."

"The scientific fact is that during the stage of meiosis the DNA of a future zygote undergoes hundreds of thousands of replication errors. This process of imputed error is the basis for speciation and occurs with every gamete. It only requires a single error in a critical event to kill a zygote. Because the zygote has 6 billion nucleotides a few hundred thousand errors may or may not lead to the death of the zygote or to the creation of a non human life. What we do know for certain is that after replication, the hundreds of thousands of errors make it impossible to be certain of the humanity of the zygote. Because of speciation, there is no proof of human life at conception.
Because all pro life theory is based upon the false "assumption" of life at conceptions, the entire pro life movement fails. The scientific proof cannot be denied. All DNA suffers errors that make it impossible to tell if the life created is human.
That said, 70 percent of conceptions do not produce human life, however, 30 percent do. So mathematically speaking there will always be human life. The only problem for the pro life movement is that one cannot prove the zygote is human until after birth occurs."

"Two main reasons why abortion should be legal: (1) in the case that a woman is raped, and (2) in the case that a child is conceived without intention of the couple to have and raise a child. Clearly, in the first case, abortion should be an option for any woman. In addition to the trauma and humiliation of being sexually abused, why would anyone want to force a woman to keep a child that was forced upon her? Want to support women's rights? Give them the opportunity to take control of their lives when things go awry and a life altering event has taken place. In the second, more often disputed case, one must look at the effects of whether or not a couple truly wants to have a child. If a child is conceived without intent to raise a child, the said child will grow up unwanted and may even be neglected. Even though most parents might be able to "learn to love" their child, in many cases, the right environment to raise a child may not be present. Financial hardship, family issues, and numerous other problems can come in the way of raising a child in the loving, caring environment that it deserves. People should be able to have a child when they feel ready as well as be able to opt out if they are not."

Many women who become pregnant are not finacally stable enough to care for a child and ether has to choose from living pay check to pay check to provide for there child or give there child up for adoption. "Probably yes, it should be legal.
The difficult question, perhaps, is under what circumstances. At some point, we are aborting a human child. A born-alive child is recognized as such upon emergence from the womb, even before its first breath. Pre- or full-term, it is a human being.

That child is the same, whether in the doctor's hands two seconds after delivery or in its mother in the seconds just prior to birth. And the hours prior, the days and weeks prior. Calling the child a fetus doesn't change that reality."

"The ignorance of some people blow my mind. You have to put it in other ways besides just saying "youre killing your own child" or "well they were irresponsible so they deserve the consequences" that is the only thing that you can say as to why it may be a bad decision. What youre not considering is that these options were put here for a reason so that people actually have a choice. as selfish as abortions may seem, think about peoples situations and how THEY feel. people get pregnant thats how it goes, but there are plenty of people who cant have a child due to their circumstances. Perhaps they are poor/struggling and couldnt afford to raise a child, couldnt give it all it needed/deserved. Bringing in a child that you cannot raise is just as selfish, is it not? Women have their reasons and they have their rights and you dont have to like it. However, if youre just out sleeping around, guy after guy and not knowing who the father is, then no i dont think its acceptable and i dont support you. But, if she has a completely understandable reason why she chose abortion as an option, whether you find it understandable or not. She did what she felt was best, and there are so many women who appreciate being able to have that choice."

Its just life. 40 years ago i guarantee so many women wished that their was another option. And then u expect women to give their baby away to strangers? Some women clearly find abortion much easier than adoption. Think about if it were your 15 year old daughter, she made a mistake. Wouldnt you want her to know she had options? That she didnt HAVE to do this? Should she be having sex? No. But do people have sex? Yes. and for you to tell people "well stop having sex" sounds ridiculous. What if the mother was in an abusive relationship? Say shes pregnant, getting beat on by the father of her child, could you imagine bringing your baby into that type of tragedy? I say this because I experienced this. For all of you who have not experienced this/or other situations, you should NOT judge others. For those of you who have brought a healthy baby into the world and you can raise it and give it everything, thats a blessing. But for those who choose abortion, does NOT mean that when the time is right, they wont be a great mom & unconditionally love the baby they will some day have"

Historically one's right to life began at adulthood. As recently as 19th century in this country one could do whatever one wanted to do to one's children - including kill them - and it was his / hers (but especially his) own affair. We already spend hundreds off millions of personal and tax dollars for births and care of children born to the poor. Why would we want to bankrupt the states by adding another 500,000 to a million more births each year to the system, and food stamps for 18 years or more. To me that seems like it would bankrupt each states system real fast and a place we really don't want to go to. I just think it would be a tremendous cost to the system and taxpayers that is already overburdened with cost for the poor and needy. If they can't pay, who will ? You and me, that's who. I would imagine it cost a pretty penny for EACH baby they "SAVE" from abortion, probably $300,000 to $500,000 each baby.......yet the Cons (Pro-Life side) don't feel it's there place to help pay anything to help these mothers and families......it's like they want their cake and eat it too. "In most states, it is not considered a double homicide. In fact, the few people who have actually been charged with intent on murdering a fetus in recent memory have been mother's attempting illegal or at home abortions. Largely in both America and Canada, the unborn fetus is not considered (though of course harsher sentences may be given due to personal taste of the judge) and the murderer is only charged with one homicide. Maybe you should know how the legal system actually prosecutes these crimes first and see how biased they are in favor of the murderers versus desperate women who do not want the child."

      1) when a pregnant women is killed she does not want to be killed duh and it is doing by someone who doesnt have a right when a baby is aborted the baby doesnt even have a heart beat till the 5th week after conception, so the only thing being aborted is a clump of cells.
      2) a women does have the right to her own body and if she espiecally was raped she shouldnt be forced to have her rapists child.

i assume the best that you are of course againts rape and find justice in rapists being locked away for good, but what justice does the women get if she is forced to have that rapist child? we are all entitled to our opinions but remember 1) there is so much science that goes into the conception of a fetus so before you call it murder research the topic 2) think about if you (depending if you are female or not) were enjoying yourself with your partner and accidently the condom broke or birth control didnt work or it was a sexual assault and you got pregnant, would you want to be forced to have a child that you didnt want and the pregnancy was accidentally, or to give birth to your rapists child. no women should be forced to bear a child.educate yourself before calling abortion murder."

Yes, you might say that what if the person got raped, the baby is not the rapist in miniature form. If don't want a baby give it up to adoption, you might say, that the person doesn't deserve the pain. The baby doesn't either, I read an article were it said that when the abortion is under way it opens it's mouth, he's/she's screaming because he/she can feel pain. People who say that woman have a choice to decide abortion are wrong, your going to prevent that child to later on go to school, learn, later get married, have children of there own, then maybe you don't deserve to have sex."

Yet, thousands upon thousands of children age out of the adoption system, as the surplus of these kids is much too high.

And to simply not have sex is foolish, you deny women the right to have control of their bodies and see them as more than just birth-givers, they have the right to learn and love themselves as sexual beings, as men should and do.

Ultimately, what hurts more, dying before even understanding what life is, or living a life of and poverty and loneliness in a system where you may never find a family and struggle to even make ends meet?

We should allow women the right to their own bodies, to stop a life from being brought into the world that possibly will never be appreciated to the extent that it should."

"What she's saying is that abortion isn't the right, no matter the circumstance. There are rape victims, and they shouldn't abort children, and there are people who had sex, and got pregnant and they shouldn't abort children. People argue that abortion is "terminating the fetus" but that literally means getting rid of or killing the baby. Two wrongs don't make a right. The only reason she's blaming women is because women make that choice to kill the child, not the men, not the kids, women, because its their choice, yes. But it shouldn't be a choice. There are people in the world that can't have children, so they adopt. It's a complete miracle to be honored by having a child, even if you don't keep the child. Just think, what would happen if you were aborted?"

"Abortion is nothing short of murder. There's no denying that what a woman is about to kill is a living, breathing child at the end of the day, and to kill it for your own benefit is disgusting in more ways than one. There should, however, be some limited exceptions to allow abortion, such as rape or unplanned pregnancy. Also, women have other options: Once the child is born he can be put up for adoption, or he can live with another family member legally. But to commit to a pregnancy then abort is unacceptable. You are responsible for a living creature that fully depends on you, and it is your moral duty to protect it. If you fail to do so then you have, simply put, killed your own child."

"Abortion is not murder. Murder is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. A fetus, as you said, depends fully on its mother, and a human being has to be an individual entity. Until the fetus is separated from its mother, it isn't a human being. It isn't unlawful, either. It is fully short of murder.

I see your point on committing to having a child, but rarely does a mother have an abortion when she wanted the child. There are many reasons why a woman would need to have an abortion. Financial issues, health complications, or inability to raise a child. 135,000 children are currently up for adoption. 51,000 children are put up for adoption each year, and only 58,000 are adopted. Adoption isn't really the best choice, as the child is likely not to have a set home."

I dont get how when someone kills a pregnant woman it is considered double homicide, but when a women is proceeding with an abortion its not considered murder lawfully. That all just doesnt add up in my head.Just cuz most of you that are cool with it being legal are adults doesnt mean that you are right, just cuz were younger doesnt mean were dumber. COME ON im 14 and i see what is wrong with abortion. If all these women and young girls were mature and "adult" enough to lay down and have sex then you should be mature and adult enough to take care of a child. Maybe you should think before you open your legs honey, think of the consequences that lead to having unprotected sex. And if some of you ladies are with a man that doesnt want a child and is forcing you to abort the baby, maybe he shouldve thought twice about daring to disrespect your body. All you young guys out there and even mature men, you need to think about the consequences, if you do not want children dont have unprotected sex, im not saying dont have sex im saying protect yourself, tell her to go on the pill, or wear a condom, it really doesnt matter whether condoms make it less pleasurable its about the consequences that come after it, its about being safe."

"Lol no methods of contraception are 100% effective. So what if someone does have protected sex? Does your argument change then? Condoms aren't 100% and neither is the pill. I have a friend who got pregnant while using both condoms AND the pill (using them both correctly), because, again, no method of contraception is 100%.

So what now? You have super protected sex, are being as responsible as you can about it, and still wind up pregnant because you become that miniscule percent chance of getting pregnant. "its about being safe" as you said, and what if someone IS being safe and is using protection?! Your argument is invalid.

Sex is a meaningful part of relationships, and abstinence is not something that everyone agrees on or believes in, so what is the answer for people who don't share abstinent beliefs? Have safe sex, yes, and when you do and still get pregnant, you just have no options? Bull. That's ridiculous.

As someone else has said, I did not chose to be someone that can get pregnant, nor did anyone else. Sex is pleasurable and meaningful to many people, and is not just used for procreation, so everyone should have their options to make whatever decisions they choose."

"By your standard of abortion being murder, would you also consider miscarriages as accidental manslaughter? Also, there are multiple other reasons why women might have an abortion. Not just because they were careless or the contraception they used didn't work. For example, maybe the woman and her husband both wanted a child but her medical history allowed her to conceive but prevented the mother from being able to give birth to the child. This might make her choose to have an abortion for her health. You can group everyone who has an abortion into one category of "oh you were careless" because that's not true or fair to a lot of people.

For the record, places such as Planned Parenthood actually only carry out on 3% of their services being abortions. Their biggest service is actually STI testing/treatment with contraceptive services running in a close second according to a 2016 record. Maybe if you did some research, you might not feel the need to insult and judge the choices of others and stop telling people what to do."

"One of the smartest things pro-choice people have done is to adopt the term pro-choice itself as their label. The word choice sounds good and pleasing to hear. The ability to choose is good right? Well PRO-CHOICE IS A LIE. the mother in fact, already got her choice when she choose to have sex. The only choice being denied here is the choice the baby has to live or not, and it is being denied by the so called "pro-choice" themselves. If you are pro-choice and are reading this I know you most likely thought immediately about cases of rape, because you guys are predictable like that. But the simple fact is that the VAST MAJORITY of pregnancies aborted are caused by willing and unprotected sex. You guys love to focus on the 1% and ignore the other 99% of abortion cases because the 1% are the only cases where your argument could possibly be feasible. Another thing that irks me about pro-choice arguments is when they automatically assume a baby would rather die than grow up in poverty or maybe even (gasp) an orphanage. Doesn't that also seem like taking away the baby's choice?"

"Generally speaking, I don't think abortion should be legal. The fact is, you made a decision and you were perfectly aware of the risks. Some people say a woman has a right to her own body, and that's why abortion should be legal. However, once you get pregnant, it is no longer just your body. There is another PERSON inside you. If you choose to have an abortion, you are choosing to end someone else's life- and who gave you that right?! On a side note, we all take life for granted. The odds of us being here, being alive, are so incredibly slim, and we should appreciate that every day. The only time I believe abortions should be permitted are in cases of rape- where the mother did not consent to sexual intercourse and therefore did not take the risk so many others take. The lines are very blurred about rape, and that is a problem that well never be solved because there aren't always witnesses. To finish, abortions should generally not be allowed because you are choosing FOR someone whether they want to live or not. You say a live in poverty, a life of hardship, is worse than never being born? That's your opinion. You don't get to choose for someone else.
I'm not looking to offend anyone here. Thanks!"

If it can't talk, eat, or even perform a simple everyday normal function of a person; then how could we call it a person? However if we can apply science (or even education) to our everyday life, the correct term for an unborn baby is called a fetus and the fetus is also part of the pregnant person's body (Correct?). The pregnant person is also human, but a human has rights over their own body and can choose what happens to it (You agree No?), and if they wish to remove parts of their own body, it is simply their choice, and we have yo respect their choices. And to take away their rights to their own body parts, is simply denying ascertain rights over your own body.

Furthermore, by saying a fetus has a right to someones' body until it's born, despite the pregnant person's wishes, you're doing 2 things:
      1) You are granting a fetus more rights to other people's bodies than any born person.
      2) Awarding a pregnant person less right's to their body than a fetus corpse."

One of the points, which I'm sure you neglected to read is that at 8 weeks they too are able to feel pain. During an ultrasound, one baby as they were being aborted, opened his or her mouth as the doctor can only describe as a silent scream coming from the unborn child. Imagine and visualize this entire scenario and you do not think this is a violent act, you're kidding yourself. They deserve a right to their own life."

Yes, I'm sure that women need their own choice over their bodies, but what about the babies they're killing? What about their choice. They are still alive in their mothers whether they are born yet or not. They still grow, and develop so we should not be killing them. If they are raped they can still put the child for adoption not kill the kid. Yes, they are traumatized but what if you parents aborted you when you were completely helpless against it. If the women want a choice they can make one called A-D-O-P-T-I-O-N. Not M-U-R-D-E-R. The baby still lives, but is completely helpless to what you decide to do to it, If you really don't want that baby, give it up for adoption. Let's start acting like humans people!"

We all mistakes, but having an abortion would be the most awful worst mistake you could make in your life. No one says you HAVE to keep the child. There are other options. Such as adoption or giving the baby to someone you trust who you know would take care and love the baby. What if that little baby was the next greatest leader for our country. Or the one to stop world hunger or pollution. We will never know. Because you're not just killing it, but you're killing their dreams, their purpose in life, their life. Why do people think that this absolutely normal? Imagine maybe walking in a nice peaceful park, then all of sudden someone jumps out of nowhere and stabs you death, taking all the life out of you. While maybe you made other good points later in your comment, I stopped reading as soon as I saw that word because that's implying a religious argument. When you can leave religion out of your argument, maybe I'd take you more seriously. Also, you're 14. Not saying 14 year olds don't know anything, but I highly doubt you've taken the time to actually research the topic. There are SO many children in the adoption system, looking for homes, so adoption is not the perfect option for people who do not want to bring a child into their world. And "what if" arguments about what the child could become are invalid too, because "what if" that baby winds up a rapist, murderer, criminal? Then you'll wish it were aborted, because prison systems are way too full, and rape and murder are horrible."

"What about the human forced to use their body to sustain another being? Being pregnant and giving birth are not small gifts. And they are truly gifts that should never be forced or taken. Your analogy in the park has no bearing on the relationship between someone who is actively living off another's body. Imagine someone jumps inside your body and the state says "too bad, so sad, you will just have to risk your life until the person leaves." We allow people to defend themselves against rapists, muggers, and burglars, but not someone feeding off their own body? You are 14. Really, think about the extraordinary thing you are asking a human to do. And then think about how you can force them to do it. If someone doesn't want to use their body to sustain someone, can we lock them up? Strap them to a bed for 9 months? Force feed them? This is what is will come to, because people who are pregnant and don't want to be realize how unjust it is to force them to use their body to sustain another for even a week. It is cruel, and without legal abortion we will see extreme measures."

Children are blessings not punishments. It may be hard to have kids, but in the end it is worth it. Even children can make a difference in the world. Everyone deserves to LIVE. Everyone Deserves a CHANCE. Everyone deserves to LEARN and GROW. Abortion is nothing less than murder. Love your child even when it's hard. My mom has had three miscarriages, and it is still sad even if it was a natural cause. It would be so much worse if she were to kill her own children. My sister who has had some financial issues still loves and cares for two boys of her own. Her and her husband have a wonderful life together in their family even though times are hard. Why would you be ashamed or afraid to be a parent? God will be there to catch you when you fall, but please don't kill to get to an easy life, it will only make it harder to bare. But most of all have FAITH in YOURSELF that you could be a wonderful parent, and be ADMIRED and LOOKED UP TO by your children. "Abortion is just the easy way out of taking responsibility of your life and the decisions that the man and woman made. The mother and father knew the risk of having sex, even if they were using protection, and if the woman gets pregnant, the parents now have the responsibility to take care of the child. Most woman find out they are pregnant at around 4-7 weeks, and during that time the baby's heartbeat is at a steady rhythm, and the structures that will become the eyes and ears are forming. The fetal skeleton is also beginning to form. And if you leave it alone in less than a year, it will be a human baby. So there should be no timeline in the pregnancy when abortion could be fine.
And for people who cite rape/incest for an argument, a small majority of abortions are the result of that. So if people could agree with the majority of the abortions, then we could have a different discussion on that topic. But basing your whole argument on that, is just sad."

The baby's not ready to die! But yet, you're taking its life! There are so many women out there who would LOVE to have a baby of their own but the doctor's tell them that they can't have children. I don't think the baby should pay for YOUR mistakes! If you're gonna have sex, use a freaking condom, like, seriously. You could always give the baby to someone that you know that may not be able to bear children, or just give he/she to a family member that you know will take good care of him/her. That way you can still watch the child grow. If you get an abortion, then you're only thinking about yourself. If you're not ready to take care of a child, then don't have unprotected sex, period. I don't care how unready you are to take care of a child, you should not kill it. Abortion is murder. I could understand if you got raped and the man got you pregnant but...like, even then, you shouldn't abort the baby. You should just set it up for adoption if you really don't want it. Before making abortion illegal, we should first set up more women's programs to help women choose against abortion and provide for their healthcare and baby needs, things like checkups and cribs. Then, after that, and only after that can we outlaw abortion, when it's not needed anymore, and so our future generations won't make the same mistake we made, allowing abortion."

The arguments made for abortion such as the child will be unloved because his father was a rapist or this child has no rights because he's/she's inside a uterus are utterly ridiculous and simply killing a baby is not the solution.
Would the baby have been more likely conceived because of rape or a stupid decision? Everyone is young and dumb and at one time and we have all made stupid decisions. These women are like "Hey, I didn't want this kid, but I wanted sex so I should have the right to abortion." The only 100% way of preventing unwanted pregnancies is not having sex. If having sex is the only way you can have intimacy or pleasure yourself, you seriously need to rethink your life. But I digress, taking the risk of pregnancy to have sex is ultimately your decision but people, make smarter decisions! What happens if your parents were going to have an abortion? Would you say yes keep going or no I want to live. Some of the most famous celebrities were almost aborted. E.g: The Game was going to abort. Pope John Paul II was going to be aborted. They say that too many children in this world could mean overpopulation, and this could be detrimental to the environment. It seems like all the pro-choice person is concerned about are the people at the top-- the adults, the earlier generation, the ones who have already lived and would like to continue living. Woman and medical professionals along with any witness can simple describe this attack on United States Constitution as a Gender specific Amputation or female specific amputation. this difference in confession is to alienate the self-incrimination the general public is led to make to a felony crime."

"You ask people to help and support pregnant girls or young moms, and someone down voted it. This shows you what you are up against. There are those who don't care about the pregnant woman or young mom, even though healthy and supported parents lead to healthier babies and children. They don't like the idea of helping anyone. They are in it to punish. Pregnant women don't deserve any help, aid, or sympathy because they should be punished by being forced to have the baby and care for it on their own. It is completely twisted and in many ways evil."

Then, after all that is done, we can outlaw abortion so our future generations won't make the same terrible mistakes we did."

"Having sex is a very serious thing. I believe it should be reserved for marriage, so really, this wouldn't be an issue for me personally. If someone decides to have sex with someone else when they are young, they know the risks and should have used protection. I know this has been pointed out many times before, but abortion is killing, and killing is wrong. It's murder. The only time when abortion I believe might be okay would be if the mother of the child was so traumatized by a rape that she was too mentally unstable or unhealthy to take care of the baby, or her choices were making the fetus unhealthy. Even then, there are millions of couples all around the world that want children, but can't. Adoption is a better option. Furthermore, people want abortions out of convenience. They made a bad choice, and want it to go away. But when you are young and you do something stupid, your parents punish you because you need to learn from your mistakes. Choices have consequences, for better or for worse."

There is a precious human life inside of her. Consider this quote by a former abortionist: "There is no difference between a first, second, or third trimester, abortion or infanticide. It's all the same human being in different stages of development. I finally got to the point when I couldn't look at those little bodies anymore." All humans are human...just because a baby is in the womb doesn't mean it is a different species. And sure, I fully believe that everyone should have control over THEIR body. But the problem is, women don't abort themselves. They abort someone else."

"Though it has been misinterpreted by our Supreme Court on more than one occasion, our Constitution remains in effect as the ultimate law of our land.

Our 5th and 14th Amendments clearly establish that all persons are entitled to the "equal protections of our laws" and that "no persons can be deprived of their life except by the due process of our laws."

Even as slavery was being upheld as legal by our Supreme Court, it was still a crime against humanity because slavery violated the rights of those enslaved by denying those persons their right to due process and the equal protections of our laws.

Legalized abortion denies rights and protections to the children aborted in much the same way that legalized slavery once did to those enslaved.

Since the Roe vs Wade ruling, more than 35 States have passed laws which define a "child in the womb in any stage of development" as "a human being." Those fetal HOMICIDE laws already make it a crime of MURDER to kill a "child in the womb" during the committing of a criminal act.

Sooner or later, the Supreme Court will have to reconcile our Fetal Homicide laws with their previous ruling on Roe vs Wade."

"Personally, I believe that abortion is wrong and should not be allowed. Abortion is murder. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government. Even if the baby hasn't been born yet, it is still the killing of an innocent human being which is the definition of murder. Also, abortion is proving that you aren't responsible or ready to have a child which shows that you shouldn't even be having sexual intercourse if you aren't prepared for that. People need to take responsibility for their actions and accept whatever consequences that come their way. This is an important issue because it is impacting an underdeveloped embryo's life as well as a mother's. It can lead to future medical problems for the mother. Depending on what you believe, it still has impact on a human life which is why it is still an issue. This can be viewed in many different ways because some are pro choice and some are pro life. It depends on what you believe in but it all comes down to whether or not it should be legal or illegal which divides us all because no one can seem to agree on a decision to satisfy everyone."

Let's face it, a lot of women who commit abortion do so primarily because they want to preserve their good looks, shapely body, keep looking sexy and not look pregnant with a big belly poking infront of you..
there is also a good bunch who even do it because they're scared....the pains of childbearing, the concept of bring a mother..etc.
And look, most of these people on the Pro side keep saying Ahhh, what if Susan was raped? she wouldnt be excited about keeping the baby of a rapist. . yes, true there are rape cases here and there but you and I both know that a much larger percentage of abortion cases result from consensual sex. Boyfriend Girlfriend sex... screwing your husband's brother sex, etc
And duhh. Girls from rich homes and comfortable lifestyles abort too. Alot of them actually and several times for some,
I'm from a country that is not considered very prosperous like the great America and abortion access can be rather expensive. Those who seek it are mostly those who can afford it.
but anyway, the point of this post is point out that most of the people on the Pro side of abortion keep citing grave and ghastly reasons why women do abortion when in real life, MOST of these reasons are rather trivial."

Food was not on the table; the water and electricity were constantly being turned off at home. But my mother chose life-- she told no one she was pregnant; my aunt that I now live with due to the foster care system did not even know I existed until my oldest brother spilled the news. Foster care before my home now was rough, too -- I lived with girls who cut up my clothes and beat me. My father essentially is a pedophile; I haven't seen my mother in over a year. However, even in the terrible conditions that I had to be born into, four years later, my mother chose life again: my sister. I would have given up so long ago if I didn't feel like I should protect my sister. My sister was the only stable thing in my life; sure, we fight, but I love her. Every fetus that is killed in abortions could save another's. They can change the world; each and every one of them. She saved mine. That is why I am Pro-Life."

"I was wrong to suggest pregnancy as a consequence-- however, it is not abuse to a woman to feed a child. That simply is what a fetus is-- shooting someone on accident and someone asking you to give blood is no where near the same as making poor choices and ending up pregnant with a human life to care for. It is not abuse to take care of another human being at an idle expense. I have no doubt in my mind that these women do not realize what they are ending. It is not a problem with the body they have no liability for-- a child is a delicate being. That does not make it a higher class. Women are not subclass to begin with let alone being abused by being asked to carry a child as a result of bad decisions. Women deserve the best care they can receive as well as paid maternal leave-the real enslavement here is to assume carrying a child is abuse and a limiting factor in the success of women. Marrow is not the same as food for a developing child which has a right to life along with its mother and it is rather unlikely that we would force marrow donations. And since when were children in the womb seen as victims and mothers as murderers? That is a poor analogy. That's not higher class. Human equality for all stages is lost in your point."

"Seaira--You are missing the point. Every action has a potential consequence, but only when pregnancy is a consequence do we decide that a woman becomes a subclass that can be abused. I could accidentally shoot my hunting buddy in the butt causing him to need a blood transfusion, and even though it was my fault no one will suggest I be the one to donate the blood. Only fetus are given such an extraordinary class of their own that we would consider requiring them to be fed. Kids go hungry every day, but we talk about requiring women to use their body to feed a fetus. What is horrendous is that you think that "saving a life" excuses abusing someone. Where does it stop? I have friends now saying that parents should be required to donate blood, marrow, and organs to all progeny as needed. Maybe tomorrow it won't sound so far fetched to have mandatory blood and marrow donations. After all, people die every year waiting for marrow. You murdered; how dare you not share your marrow!"
