"There are 120,000 (documented) orphans in the USA, 400,000 living in foster care and too many to count that aged out of the system and were left with virtually no support. What were you saying about all the people that wanted to adopt that baby?"

"58,000 adoptions take place annually. Keep in mind, there are not 400,000 new orphans each year... That's just how many there are. Normally children are adopted around age 7. This just so happens to work if you do the math. Don't forget, every single one of these Orphans has the right to life no matter your perception of lacking care."

Smoke tobacco for most of your life and need treatment for lung cancer? Yep. Have sex and get pregnant when you don't want to be? You got yourself into this situation and you deserve no medical attention or compassion! This is your fault and you will deal with the consequences.

Sorry, something doesn't add up here."

"This is completely correct of what you just said. And think about it also. If a woman gets pregnant, she has to be forced to deal with it. But if their partner says that "They aren't ready" they can easily walk away from the situation and they don't have to be seen as the bad one because they aren't the one having to care for the child! Abortion should stay legal and that's that."

"Your comparisons only have to do with the individual. Abortion involves two people, the mother and child, who is an innocent human life. You shouldn't have sex if you don't want to be pregnant anyway. Contraception has never been 100% effective, and you should take responsibility for your actions. Don't murder innocent human life for not being alive at the right time."

Smoke tobacco for most of your life and need treatment for lung cancer? Yep. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HAVING AN ABORTION. And your saying if a person has a baby they should just control that on there own? they do have a right to get medical help and have the baby. If they don't want the baby then they should just put it up for an adoption instead of killing it. It causes the mom who got an abortion pain, bleeding, and they sometimes regret it."

"you say we shouldn't "make that call for anyone else" but that is literally the definition of abortion. The mother is choosing the fate of the child and deciding to kill it without taking it's opinion at ease. Just because you can't hear a baby scream from the outside doesn't mean it's not screaming at all. The womb is supposed to be a safe place for the baby to grow, not a place a baby should fear and be killed inside of. I hope you respond with an educated answer and please inform me on your behalf."

"In a perfect world I wish that all women would want to keep their babies, or if not, at least be able to give them up for adoption. The reality is that many women don't want children for whatever reason there may be and adoption processes can be complicated. In the end I believe that it is a woman's choice what she wants to do with her body."

"I hesitate to write a reply, because my stance seems fairly vocal in the response section of this thread, but for Anon's comment I would like to point out that the supposition that children will suffer if we let them live is morbid in a slightly funny way. Suffering or the possibility of suffering does not vindicate taking a life that has no say in the matter (which disassociates this issue from euthanasia).

For Anonymous's answer, American consumerism isn't as dark as that, 'complicated processes' isn't a very good justification for taking a life, and we don't have to make women want anything (that has the echoes of an Orwellian dystopia). We do however need to keep people from taking lives for disproportionately insignificant reasons when compared with the value of life and focus on finding alternative solutions to difficult problems.

Aspects of life will always be inconvenient and painful, but that doesn't make it any less valuable and that doesn't mean there aren't other solutions to problems."
    • +1 +1 0 Anon. Jun. 26, 2018
"I agree with you, it is the women's choice. What I think could get some consideration is adoption. If all the women who got their child aborted gave their child for adoption instead, the orphanages would be more crowded and there soon wouldn't be enough people to take care of all of the kids suffering. This is just a thought to keep in mind."
    • 0 0 0 Anonymous Jan. 12, 2019
"Not wanting your child doesn't justify murder. It is not the woman's body. It is not her place to decide whether the completely separate, unique, innocent human life IN her body gets to live. Everyone should be given the chance to live. It is a fundamental right."

"As a man, I don't have to worry about pregnancy. I could, theoretically, have sex with a girl then get her pregnant then just leave. Why should I care about that child? Well I do care about children, which is why I support abortion. I want, at least, a woman to be able to make up for the mistakes of her male partner by denying that man's ability to ruin her life. Also, children who are born, but unwanted, could grow up with a impoverished single mother and be denied the privilege of a good childhood that some children get by default. I would only support banning abortion if the adoption process was perfect and flawless, and we could guarantee every child a happy life with a adopted parents. But we can't. So we need abortion so men can't destroy a woman's life in about 5 seconds, we also need it so no child is unwanted."

"You stated that abortion empowers woman by denying her "partner" the ability to ruin her life. I believe she has already given that man the ability by having sex with him. Furthermore, abortion kills women, not empowers them. What about the hundreds of thousands of baby girls killed by abortion each year?
A lot of people are unwanted in this world. That doesn't mean we can tear apart their limbs and treat them as if they're disposable. The reality is that human life has infinite value. You have to at least give the baby a chance to live. You don't know for sure that the child will grow up unwanted or that the woman's life will be ruined. Their is no justification for the murder of innocent human life.
Happiness is an illusion. It is worldly, and there are greater things for us in Heaven."

"Just because children may be denied the privilege of a good childhood means that they should also be denied the right to life? That's somewhat equivalent to saying "I care about ants, so I kill them so that they don't have to live a life of turmoil." In all honesty, the ant could care less what you think. I realize that I am drawing similarities between human children and ants, but when you make the deciding factor in taking life the possibility of suffering, it applies equally well to ants and children."

"I am pro choice. I myself will never have an abortion but that is my choice. I am not going to shame others for choosing a different path. I was 17 when I got pregnant. It was my choice to have my baby and she hasn't held me back in anyway. However to the people who abuse the privilege of abortions by using them as a form of birth control I completely disagree with. Abortions are resources for people who can't take care of the child, are in abusive situations, victims of rape, are having a child who has developed abnormalities that threaten both the child or mother's lives, or threaten the mothers life due to circumstances beyond her control. Pregnancy shouldn't be something to hold someone back. It should be a choice you make that you grow from not something forced upon you."

"Thank you for not aborting your child. You saved a life.
I don't understand how you have a child but still support the murder of others. My view is very simple: You can't scientifically deny that human life starts at conception, and you can't morally deny innocent human life its right to live.
Rape: Why should the child be punished for its father's crimes?
Abnormalities: This is discrimination. We can't walk up to everyone who's deformed or ill and tear apart their limbs.
I agree that when the mother's life is in danger, she has the right to choose between herself and the baby.
But in other cases, there is a choice between the happiness of the mother and the life of the child. Or the happiness of the child and the life of the child.
Life is infinitely valuable, so regardless of the circumstances, you cannot justify abortion because it ends an innocent human life. Always choose life."

If they don't want the responsibility of a child, they shouldn't have had sex in the first place. Contraception has never been 100% effective,
Abortion may be the easiest way, but its not the most moral. It ends innocent human life.

"I find it really sad that you call these precious innocent human lives accidents, burdens, and disappointments. You refer to them as babies and children this whole time. So are you ok with the murder of babies and children? Simply because they are accidents? What it comes down to is innocent human life. And there is no justification for the murder of innocent human life.
Contraception has never claimed to be 100% effective. By having sex, you take the risk of being pregnant. Take responsibility for your actions. Don't kill innocent human life because you messed up.
Furthermore, abortion is not doing "what we want with our bodies". The embryo/fetus is a completely separate, unique human being inside of the mother. It is not your place to decide whether another life gets to live.
Also, you do not know that the mother's life will be ruined or that the child will be abused. You must give the baby a chance to live.
"Murder? Oh well!" You speak of life like it is disposable. Life has infinite value. Consider this: a single mother has a 2 year old and loses her job, She can no longer afford to support the two of them. Can she kill her child? No! Because that life has infinite worth."

"There's an idea of something called bodily autonomy, which means you have rights to your own body. Cadavers cannot have organs removed unless they had given consent during their lifetime. Saying abortion should be illegal is saying that a fetus, which (at most points in time) isn't alive yet, has more rights than the woman carrying it. You are also saying that a dead body has more rights than a pregnant woman.
Abortions happen because the mother cannot care for her child. Maybe its rape, maybe she was drunk, maybe it was failed contraception, but this woman can't take care of her unborn child, so she is giving both her fetus and herself a better life.
Yet another idea; 'killing' the baby. You say that it is alive because its heart is beating. A body is declared dead six minutes after the heart stops-when they are brain dead. That gives the first responders or doctors or whoever time to restart their heart. Brain activity in a fetus (or their first detectable movement, called 'quickening') starts between week 13-25, varying from pregnancy to pregnancy. The fetus is not 'alive' when its heart starts beating. It is 'alive' when it begins to have brain activity. Do some research."

It doesn't matter if it doesn't look like you or think like you, which is contrary to what a certain German dictator with a distinct mustache would want you to say. If you had a choice of a woman's life or a toddler's life, who would you choose? You would not be getting a better life by aborting because of the trauma you would (or should) experience afterwards.
also, an unborn child is not a dead body, and that pregnant woman will soon no longer be pregnant."

No matter how much we educate, pressure, scare, guilt, or try to talk women out of abortion, there will always be a percentage of women who will abort. Therefor, we need a safe and hygienic place for them to do this. Until you refute or reconcile people's belief that abortion is murder, this is how they will read your comment. No one (at least I hope) seriously applies this argument to adult murder. Legalizing abortion gets rid of the guilt that comes from breaking the law and opens the door for many more people that don't have very good justifications to do the same. Therefore when you compare what would happen, the number of legal abortions shoots far beyond what the number of illegal abortions would have been which kills more babies. Your argument is a good one if fetuses have no value as humans. From the perspective that they do however, the argument sounds as stated above."

When someone is forcefully made pregnant they should not be obligated just due to a religious belief to keep that child. Shouldn't we assume that the lord wants us to live our best life and would't the lord also want his children to be raised into a healthy environment in which they can prosper? I just feel that something that promotes wellness should not be the very thing that forces women to go through with something that can ruin their lives."

Not everyone who disagrees with you is close minded. Maybe some people are ignorant or oblivious.
Scientifically, human life beings at conception. When an egg is fertilized, the baby has 46 chromosomes (human) and its cells (life) are rapidly multiplying.
Morally, you cannot deny innocent human life the right to live.
By having sex, you accept the possibility of motherhood because contraception has never been 100% effective.
If you are pregnant from rape, that is terrible and no one should ever have to go through that. But why punish the child for the crimes of their father? Rapists don't even get the death sentence.

A woman should not be forced to throw away her life because of an accident when she has the option not to. I disagree with using abortion as a form of birth control and believe people should be more responsible. But people seems to forget that accidents and crimes do happen, and a woman who is a victim of that should not be punished for the rest of her life. A woman old enough to have a child already has a life, while a fetus is still developing. It has been proven that they cannot feel pain when the procedure is performed. I respect pro-life opinions, but when people are plain denying facts and biology, and it hurts women physically and mentally, that's where I draw the line. I do believe that abortion should be taken seriously though, and it is something to think long about before having one, because sometimes there will be consequences."

So it should be the child's choice. Child can't make the choice yet? Wait for the child to be born, grow to an age where the child can make its own decision, then ask the child if it would like to be killed. What do you think it he/she would say? You obviously weren't aborted by your mother. Neither was I. I'm glad I was given the choice. Are you? The mother wouldn't have gotten to choose what to do with her body if her mother had chosen to abort her. Why wasn't it her choice then, but it is now? Is it because now she can do something about it? That would mean that the right to choice hinges on the capacity for self preservation. So if you can't defend yourself, you have no right to choice? It's not the mother's body she's killing."

Because women do not get all the respect they deserve and the position that they are are put into can be hard on them which can cause mental stress on them and the child at hand. If they are raped we don't want to keep that child. Some women are put into the position where they didn't have the choice whether or not to have a baby. Ex: Some girls 16 and under had been raped leading them to having a baby at a young age is shocking and unfair, being bullied and judged by the students around them to the point where the feel worthless and helpless. Feeling guilty that it was their fault that they are having a baby. Everyone should have the right to say they don't want a baby. Sometimes they just didn't want the child or didn't have any financial state to take care of the baby. Some people may say killing the baby isn't the right way to go. Some people suggest that rather than aborting, women should send the child to adoption. Following abortion is murder, miscarriage is suicide, then adoption is rejection.

Speaking of adoption, there are so many people out there that don't adopt, because they want a baby 'of their own', rather than someone else's. Who says that the child that would have been aborted, wouldn't just be put into the adoption center, waiting for a family that may never come?"

While I understand there may be cases where giving birth may result in severe hardship to the mother, I feel that by 21 weeks we are no longer talking about a fetus but a human life and that abortion may not be a humane solution - from the baby's perspective. My understanding is that a very small percentage of late term abortions are cases are NOT associated with severe birth defects or severe risk to the mother. This is what we should be talking about. Some women don't want the symptoms that come from pregnancy,(i.e. fatigue, physical discomfort, mood swings) or are unable to deal with them. Physical limitations can affect their employment opportunities, and later, their financial situation. Others do not want to go through the painful process of giving birth. Most cases, the process is many hours long, and requires a recovery time that many women cannot afford to wait through. Sometimes, women are unwilling or unable to care for a child. They may not wish to deal with the hardships of parenthood. While adoption and foster-care are possible, the adoption rate for children in America is 2.5%. Moreover, some women simply do not want to take time out of their lives to support a child. It is expensive and time-consuming, as well as difficult to take the needs of another person into account as well as your own. Not all women have the support of their family or partner. Some recognize that they aren't ready to have a child, maturity-wise, and so it is simpler and more cost-effective to simply abort the fetus,."

"I think abortion should be legal because in the reproductive process millions of reproductive cells die. The other thing about it is that the world is getting overpopulated and has a limit of how much people it can hold. Were going to have to do something about it, Abortion would be more of an option in this case. The other thing is that we all die at different ages for different reasons. We live, we die. Eventually we'll all be forgotten. So a baby dieing in a womb hurts people but in the grand scheme of the universe it Isn't all that bad. Another point I want to make is that when we die we very well could be reincarnated. Under this logic an aborted baby would simply come back as a different creature. In a Christian sense the aborted child could go to Heaven because the baby was alive, basically baptized in the womans stomach then dies. In this case the baby didn't do anything wrong so it likely went to Heaven. Another thing is that as time goes on we all become forgotten. The baby would probably haven't made a difference, provided someone else wouldn't have done so in his case. The baby also could leave a negative mark on this planet. To be honest Hitler is an example, If Hitler was aborted the world would be a better place."

If she doesnt want a child because she knows she cant take care of it, it will most likely be prolonged suffering. The Child should not be forced to go into this world in poverty or unloved. Although abortion is considered the killing of a human being, its immoral to bring a child into the world if they will suffer a harsh life. If you have any comments or wish to argue a different point please comment, thank you."

Like say that you were raped and you don't want to keep the baby because you didn't want to have sex any ways, but that us just my own person opinion because having a kid that was not your choice is not healthy for you or the baby. If you have a kid that you didn't want you aren't going to treat the baby the same as if it was your own kid. Having a kid is hard enough and knowing that he/she was not your choice is a hard thing to live with, you would have a hard time living with that kid, because every time you looked at him/her you would be reminded that this was not your choice. Everyone has different religions, but some people believe that it is okay and others do not. At three or four weeks the baby has a heartbeat."

"Abortion is not an issue to be taken lightly. In cases of rape or conditions that may kill the mother if she attempts to give birth, abortion should be a viable option for the parent. Furthermore, as a male, I honestly should have no say in what women have the right to do and not do with their bodies and their children. While an abortion can be an extremely traumatic experience, it may be necessary in some cases, and women should be able to make their own choice in such a case."

After all, that is why there has been an increase in police violence recently, people disobeying minor laws and then resisting arrest, causing the police to have to become violent to stop the criminal. If abortion becomes illegal by state law, then that means that people caught trying to get an abortion can be killed for breaking that law.

I must ask, in what universe does that make sense? If someone does not want their child, the government has no right to step in and ban them from dealing with their body as they see fit, and the government especially has no right to kill someone if they resist the police after being caught trying to abort their children. And does it make sense to kill the mother, successfully terminating both her and the baby, in the end creating another, much more painful, deadly abortion?"

1.) "Killing an unborn child is murder and should therefore not be legal"- Well, like you said, they aren't born, so why cry about an UNBORN child if there is plenty of LIVING people to worry about?

2.) "Killing is bad! Because due to my religi--" -Religion doesn't frickin' exist so quit using it as an excuse

3.) "If you had sex you should've known the consequences"- We never chose to be the ones to have to bear a child. Its not our fault that if we have sex we have to worry about kids.

4.) "Why would you kill an innocent child?"- The child isn't even able to think and no child is innocent

5.) "Abortion is murder!"- That explains why when we kill an animal its okay because they aren't human and they can't feel pain or think, yet an alien fetus who can't do anything should be cared for.

"1) I can worry about both. But unborn humans are alive. Scientifically: at conception, the baby has 46 chromosomes (human) and its cells are rapidly multiplying (life). I don't know what else you call something with 46 chromosomes and cells.

      2) Regardless of religion, killing is bad. Also I think you're trying to say that God doesn't exist, not that religion doesn't exist? (I know this is off topic, but creationism is logical. Just like saying a book has an author. Nothing can create something)
      3) Contraception has never been 100% effective. Yes, by having sex you accepted the possibility of pregnancy and yes, you do have to worry about kids when you have sex. So yes, you should take responsibility for your actions.
      4) So we can just kill people if they can't think? What about those in comas, who are brain dead? We can just kill all of them? Fetuses are innocent because you can't sin until you know right from wrong.
      5) Animal lives are not worth as much as human lives. People in comas can't feel pain or think either. Alien fetus? You mean human fetus. They should be cared for because they are human LIFE.
Please reconsider your opinion and start valuing human life."

Yeah, about that...it's not like you can give birth, and give a child to family that can take responsibility and care for it. Religion doesn't exist? Religion is the belief in, and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods, that exists regardless you partake in it or not. One of the best PRO arguments I've seen was by people asking others to get educated in the topic before commenting, this goes for either side. You should probably do that before ranting about things clearly personal to you."

"To some yes it is immoral and just wrong but not many know all the reasons for an abortion. People think that the women who abort are wrong and don't know right from wrong, but women know if they can bring a baby into a good stable life. Maybe there was something that happened to that specific woman that makes her disgusted of the fact that they are pregnant not of the baby but how she got impregnated. All women think about it, the thought of aborting doesn't come easy but they want the best for themselves and the baby, for example, some mothers suffer from postpartum depression and the child will later grow and feel rejected because his mother doesn't want him. Some say to put the baby up for adoption and yes there are kids that find a good family but they all wonder why their birth parent rejected them some even become deeply depressed and suicidal. And another issue that isn't talked about as much is how the system of foster care is broken, kids go from house to house and end up getting abuse or adopted for money even sold. So yes abortion sounds bad but the consequences of forcing a woman to have a baby she doesn't want are equally wrong or worse"

The bible allows for husbands to abort their wives under just the suspicion of adultery, so if there are any Christians who think the bible denies abortion I urge you to open your bible to the book of numbers, chapter 5. Also, if there are reasons that Christians are against abortion other than the "Thou shalt not kill" commandment, please let me know as I have never found any.

Also, quick note on Numbers 5: Depending on what version of the bible you read, it may say something about the thigh rotting and dropping. The thigh is another word for the womb and is corrected for in other versions of the bible and backed up in the Tora."

Or that some woman whom is struggling with abuse and a hard childhood with traumas does not really know anything about what needs to change within her to make better choices for herself and her life. As society we are so quick to focus on the wrongs of people and society and with that more conflicts, more wars, more problems escalate. Negativity never made a good change only more problems. And our medical and health care is mediocre in comparison to many other countries including our closest neighbor Canada. I know so many including myself that were never diagnosed and treated correctly and struggled to make a life. Why hold someone who is ignorant as the problem? We should be educating and giving more choices and options for people that need it. B/c If I had been helped and knew more then I would have done better things and lived better. So opinions are influenced by families who possibly would not let one quote ' be of an opinion' Some believe they have not been subjected to this from their family. While seemingly this is true in reality maybe not true as parents who were influenced can be blinded from dependent childhoods and their children know this. If you look at our society we are all told everything from wait in line to take a letter or number. Basically forced into submission which is not conscious awareness of anyone in truth. While there can be no real conclusions anyway why do we live them as if there were?
Making and end to something makes little sense to the human mind .Psychology knows too that not allowing questions of society or parents in our society and others is mental illness .

How is that in any way helping that victim, yes she mightve got justice but what is him in jail to her if she is forced to have his child? How is that freeing her of her abuser? And in general women should be forced to have a child, a fetus does start to form until 5 weeks into the pregnancy, 4 weeks into the pregnacy the baby is just an embreyo that doesnt have a beating heart or any recognizable features, it cannot feel pain. Also there is a huge double standard on how babys feel pain thousands of pro-life activists think its okay to circumsize a baby when to that actually born baby that is one of the most painful procedures, but somehow abortion is bad because it "hurts a cump of cells"."

Morally, you cannot deny innocent humans of life.
Now I will address your points:
The fetus is not part of your body, it is a distinct being growing inside of the mother.
Rape is wrong because it violates a body. Abortion also violates the bodies of young men and woman inside their mother's womb. So if you are against rape, you should be against abortion.
How is abortion justice for rape victims? In that case, you are only punishing the baby for the rapists crimes. The rapist doesn't even get the death sentence.
Since when do size and development determine personhood? Does someone who is shorter and less developed than me have less value?
I've never heard anyone from the pro-life movement say that circumcision is ok, but I feel like that is a little irrelevant. Our argument is not based on their ability to feel pain, but their value as a human being.
Sure, fetuses and embryos are clumps of cells, but so is every other living thing in this world. You and I are simply bigger clumps of cells. Anyway, my point is that at the moment of conception, a human life is formed. And all human lives deserve the fundamental right to live."

Only one puts "the beginning" at conception. The single human cell called the "Zygote". This perspective has fallen out of favor among Scientists for a variety of reasons but, it matters not.

The one fact that on which reasonable people on both sides agree is that "Experts Disagree", whether from Science, Philosophy or Bioethics.

    "Expert Disagree" = "I don't know"

It is absurd nonsense to claim law is justified on the basis of "I don't know".

How does one value "I don't know" against the right of a woman to her own body ?

For those who suggest that "I don't know" is good rational for a law that forces a woman to pass a large object through a small orifice...

I suggest make a law that sends "Bob the Sodomizer" over on a weekly basis. The justification would be "I don't know" or "We do not know that this would not do this person some good"

I suggest that this person would understand very quickly that such justification for law is a bad idea."

"For me would one want to be an a country that hasn't enough food to feed all of us? To many children adds to a problem like this as an example. Abortion if done legally thus far is very carefully controlled so that it is truly not taken lightly should it be necessary for an abortion to take place. Reasons for the child's health as well as the Mother are one example of why abortions in our country have truly not been taken lightly. So for me it is much or cruel to allow children into a life that could incapacitate or cause them long term pain or death. Than to allow for abortions to take place that as I mentioned are taken very seriously."

No one but God knows whether a baby is going to live a life of pain or be surrounded by love. Or if a baby is going to become a criminal or successful businessman. But this uncertainty is not justification for murder. It is no one's place to deny the life of another.
What we should be worrying about is the 3,000 babies, innocent human lives, brutally murdered everyday."

"Abortion should completely be legal. Hundreds of women are sexually assaulted each year and they should not be forced to have a child they did not want and cannot have. Many women who become pregnant are not finacally stable enough to care for a child and ether has to choose from living pay check to pay check to provide for there child or give there child up for adoption. A mother shouldnt be taken away from her child, she may not have wanted that baby in the first place but once she gives birth she has an emotional connection to the baby. A study conducted in 2012 by the Bureau of Justice Statistics National Criminal Victimization Survey said that a total of 346,830 thousands victims of rape a sexual assault reported their assualt all those kids are at least 12 or older. Is it morally okay to make a child give birth to another child when they are still experiancing puberty? no. Half the time sexual assaults come from family members and close friends it is wrong to force a 12 year old girl to give birth to her family members baby. Plus abortion is a womens choice she doesnt have to have a baby even if she did consentually have sex, it is her body her choice. 1 out of every 4 women die during child birth, dont make her choose."

Abortion is only legal within a certain amount of time, usually before the end of the first trimester, before the zygote becomes a fetus and starts to develop into what will be a person. After that, it becomes manslaughter. A legal abortion is not murder. If you plant a seed, and you later remove the seed from the ground, did you cut down a tree? I'm going to have to say no to that one. If you don't want an abortion? Don't have one. But do not deny someone else's right to a safe and secure procedure. The problem with all of these pro life people is the fact that they forget that you also have to care for the baby once it's born. If you have a child infected with the trisomy 21 mutation you have to take into accountability heart defects, blood disorders, leukemia, impaired intellect, dimentia, pre mature aging and many other medical problems. Treating these type of children takes money, time and a toll on women, families and communities worldwide. It can be financially and mentally detrimental to women and to families. These children have to be supervised their entire lives.
Now, let's leave the Down syndrome kids alone and go back to what we would call normal babies....
They also cost money, time and patience. When children are unwanted, raised in poverty they are more likely to be abused. The parents of unwanted/unplanned pregnancy enroll in social welfare programs and then get criticized by the same people who preach pro life. They say if you can't afford a child, than don't have one.
The women who bare unwanted children and abuse their children get told if you didn't want to raise it, you shouldn't have had it.

"Abortion shouldnt be legal. WHY? Because a fetus is still a living person. It is a soul. I dont get how when someone kills a pregnant woman it is considered double homicide, but when a women is proceeding with an abortion its not considered murder lawfully. That all just doesnt add up in my head.Just cuz most of you that are cool with it being legal are adults doesnt mean that you are right, just cuz were younger doesnt mean were dumber. COME ON im 14 and i see what is wrong with abortion. If all these women and young girls were mature and "adult" enough to lay down and have sex then you should be mature and adult enough to take care of a child. Maybe you should think before you open your legs honey, think of the consequences that lead to having unprotected sex. And if some of you ladies are with a man that doesnt want a child and is forcing you to abort the baby, maybe he shouldve thought twice about daring to disrespect your body. All you young guys out there and even mature men, you need to think about the consequences, if you do not want children dont have unprotected sex, im not saying dont have sex im saying protect yourself, tell her to go on the pill, or wear a condom, it really doesnt matter whether condoms make it less pleasurable its about the consequences that come after it, its about being safe."

"Lol no methods of contraception are 100% effective. So what if someone does have protected sex? Does your argument change then? Condoms aren't 100% and neither is the pill. I have a friend who got pregnant while using both condoms AND the pill (using them both correctly), because, again, no method of contraception is 100%.

So what now? You have super protected sex, are being as responsible as you can about it, and still wind up pregnant because you become that miniscule percent chance of getting pregnant. "its about being safe" as you said, and what if someone IS being safe and is using protection?! Your argument is invalid.

Sex is a meaningful part of relationships, and abstinence is not something that everyone agrees on or believes in, so what is the answer for people who don't share abstinent beliefs? Have safe sex, yes, and when you do and still get pregnant, you just have no options? Bull. That's ridiculous.

As someone else has said, I did not chose to be someone that can get pregnant, nor did anyone else. Sex is pleasurable and meaningful to many people, and is not just used for procreation, so everyone should have their options to make whatever decisions they choose."

"By your standard of abortion being murder, would you also consider miscarriages as accidental manslaughter? Also, there are multiple other reasons why women might have an abortion. Not just because they were careless or the contraception they used didn't work. For example, maybe the woman and her husband both wanted a child but her medical history allowed her to conceive but prevented the mother from being able to give birth to the child. This might make her choose to have an abortion for her health. You can group everyone who has an abortion into one category of "oh you were careless" because that's not true or fair to a lot of people.

For the record, places such as Planned Parenthood actually only carry out on 3% of their services being abortions. Their biggest service is actually STI testing/treatment with contraceptive services running in a close second according to a 2016 record. Maybe if you did some research, you might not feel the need to insult and judge the choices of others and stop telling people what to do."

Obviously there is the rape/molestasion argument(which I totally agree with) but even these people who say protection (or lack of it) is the problem, no protection is 100%. And have you ever made a mistake that you were able to fix and try again? Kind of like unprotected sex. And the argument that if you are pregnant from rape then your baby should stay alive because "God has a plan for it" is complete crap. "Isabel, there is no such thing as 'accidental manslaughter' and mothers would have to be convicted of some sort of criminal or negligent activity before they could be charged with anything.
You're 14.... the main point expressed in the comment wasn't that people shouldn't get abortions because they using contraceptives, it was the fact that when you're convicted of murder or theft, you "just have no options" because your actions have led to consequences (all actions do) that take your options away. You can't avoid responsibility with someone else's life. You can avoid responsibility by not acting (hence the argument for abstinence regardless of people's quite frankly immature 'disagreement' about it)
For most of these comments, the rape argument is rather silly. Legalizing abortion for everyone just because a small percentage were raped is ridiculous. There are many other solutions to the difficult problem of rape conception.
To David F., I am fairly positive that there is no widely accepted scientific evidence that says ANYTHING has a soul. I am not going to wait for science to find ectoplasms before I vote to have ANY murderer put in jail. Your line of reasoning applies equally well to both of our lives. I like life."

You should not kill a innocent child. One who is your own. It is so evil and wicked to do that. I believe we need to take a stand and stop abortion!"

"Abortion should be illegal. It is murdering a baby. Yes, it is a baby not a fetus. Think about it. You would be killing a baby. I think that no matter what you should have the baby, even if you don't want it, still give the baby a life, you could put the baby up for adoption and give it a home it would want. There should not be a thing that is legally murdering someone. When you murder the baby you are taking away its life choices and its rights. Who know, maybe that child that was killed could have been amazing. But you will never know unless you let that baby grow up. If a female becomes pregnant she should accept the responsibility to take care of that child. An abortion could also lead to medical problems for the female who did it. They could very well get infected from it. According to the bible killing an unborn child should be illegal. So I think that the act of murdering an unborn child should be illegal."

Women use this as an excuse to get rid of babies when they want. Of course not all, but a lot. In certain cases it should be legal.
if you don't want a baby be more careful as, sex wasn't created for you to "have fun" or "bond" with your partner. its so you could reproduce. Yes, Contraception isn't always affective. and guess what? we know that. yet still, women (and men) have sex knowing this. They had the choice then to have sex. If you're not ready for a baby, then I'm sorry but you're not ready for sex.
Abortions should only be legal for rape victims, or someone who could possibly die conceiving. As a rape victim didn't chose, and someone could die if not."

Whereas death is the end of all biological functions that sustain an organism. Whereas immediately after fertilization, the combination of an egg and sperm is scientifically defined as an organism. Whereas a human organism, no matter the size, has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in America. Whereas taking the life of the unborn infringes upon a human's 'unalienable rights' stated in the United States Declaration of Independence. Whereas governments are created to protect these rights for every human. Therefore, abortion at any gestational period is illegal and takes away a human's rights. Therefore, the only exception is if the only way to save the mother's life is to have an abortion. Be it resolved that those not wishing to keep their child after birth can give the child up for adoption. Be it further resolved financial aid will be given to the mother's in dire need so they may care for their child. I so move."

Even if the babies haven't opened their eyes ever, or their brain isn't developed, or if they are "unable to feel pain" during the procedure. "We see [in an ultrasound image] the child’s mouth open in a silent scream... This is the silent scream of a child threatened imminently with extinction" [145] (abortionprocon.org). Think about it. Everyone born in America after 1973, your parents had the chance to abort you. Did they? No. They didn't pick the inhumane choice of murdering their baby. And now, you want to kill your own children. What makes your life worth any more than the hundreds of millions of aborted babies globally?"

"Abortion is just the easy way out of taking responsibility of your life and the decisions that the man and woman made. The mother and father knew the risk of having sex, even if they were using protection, and if the woman gets pregnant, the parents now have the responsibility to take care of the child. Most woman find out they are pregnant at around 4-7 weeks, and during that time the baby's heartbeat is at a steady rhythm, and the structures that will become the eyes and ears are forming. The fetal skeleton is also beginning to form. And if you leave it alone in less than a year, it will be a human baby. So there should be no timeline in the pregnancy when abortion could be fine.
And for people who cite rape/incest for an argument, a small majority of abortions are the result of that. So if people could agree with the majority of the abortions, then we could have a different discussion on that topic. But basing your whole argument on that, is just sad."

If someone decides to have sex with someone else when they are young, they know the risks and should have used protection. I know this has been pointed out many times before, but abortion is killing, and killing is wrong. It's murder. The only time when abortion I believe might be okay would be if the mother of the child was so traumatized by a rape that she was too mentally unstable or unhealthy to take care of the baby, or her choices were making the fetus unhealthy. Even then, there are millions of couples all around the world that want children, but can't. Adoption is a better option. Furthermore, people want abortions out of convenience. They made a bad choice, and want it to go away. But when you are young and you do something stupid, your parents punish you because you need to learn from your mistakes. Choices have consequences, for better or for worse."

You know, it used to be that a majority of women didn't think they had a good life if they didn't have children. "One of the smartest things pro-choice people have done is to adopt the term pro-choice itself as their label. The word choice sounds good and pleasing to hear. The ability to choose is good right? Well PRO-CHOICE IS A LIE. the mother in fact, already got her choice when she choose to have sex. The only choice being denied here is the choice the baby has to live or not, and it is being denied by the so called "pro-choice" themselves. If you are pro-choice and are reading this I know you most likely thought immediately about cases of rape, because you guys are predictable like that. But the simple fact is that the VAST MAJORITY of pregnancies aborted are caused by willing and unprotected sex. You guys love to focus on the 1% and ignore the other 99% of abortion cases because the 1% are the only cases where your argument could possibly be feasible. Another thing that irks me about pro-choice arguments is when they automatically assume a baby would rather die than grow up in poverty or maybe even (gasp) an orphanage. Doesn't that also seem like taking away the baby's choice?"

Oh, that's right, 1 in 5 women will be raped at some time during their life. But it is worse for those younger. 1 in every 4 girls will be molested before they turn 18. Also, hundreds of thousands of children are in a orphanage, unadopted with nowhere to go. Poverty. Google Images is all you need to not want a child to grow up in that. Also, if you aren't pro-choice, you're predictable too! Always saying it was your choice. Well, say it is. What if you can't afford it? See Orphanage and Poverty. A teenager who has no one to give the baby to? Drop out of school. Never get a full education. How does that sound? Taking away the babies choice? They say that too many children in this world could mean overpopulation, and this could be detrimental to the environment. It seems like all the pro-choice person is concerned about are the people at the top-- the adults, the earlier generation, the ones who have already lived and would like to continue living. But the message is about life, how we ought not to kill another living being, but that we need to be responsible parents with love for the children, because they came into this world, naturally so, because of an act you chose to do. Selfishness is never the answer."

If you get pregnant, have the baby. If you're not ready for a baby, give it up for adoption. Adoption is still a sad option but you are giving that child an opportunity.

What about the people that get raped? It's not their fault. People say being pregnant with a baby that was cause of rape gives them horrible memories, but if you have an abortion, you are still gonna remember what happened.

Another way to look at it is if the baby has a little chance of survival AFTER being born. I'm not talking about miscarriages but died after being born. If your child has a high chance of death after birth, you should still give the child a chance. Many kids live past their life expectancy.

You got raped and you got pregnant, you don't deserve it. You don't deserve having to change everything in your life just for this baby that was forced upon you. But why should the baby die? Yes, it is a fetus but it has a soul. For the people that have sex on purpose and accidentally get pregnant, have the baby. Don't kill."

The arguments made for abortion such as the child will be unloved because his father was a rapist or this child has no rights because he's/she's inside a uterus are utterly ridiculous and simply killing a baby is not the solution.
Would the baby have been more likely conceived because of rape or a stupid decision? Everyone is young and dumb and at one time and we have all made stupid decisions. These women are like "Hey, I didn't want this kid, but I wanted sex so I should have the right to abortion." The only 100% way of preventing unwanted pregnancies is not having sex. If having sex is the only way you can have intimacy or pleasure yourself, you seriously need to rethink your life. But I digress, taking the risk of pregnancy to have sex is ultimately your decision but people, make smarter decisions! What happens if your parents were going to have an abortion? Would you say yes keep going or no I want to live. Some of the most famous celebrities were almost aborted. E.g: The Game was going to abort. Pope John Paul II was going to be aborted. "I am a Christian but my views on abortion have nothing to do with my religion. You cannot scientifically deny that human life doesn't start at conception. At that moment, it has 46 (or 47) chromosomes, and are made of cells.
You cannot morally deny human life the right to live. That life is innocent, precious, and invaluable. You cannot kill it for existing.
My body my choice: It's not your body, its a completely separate individual inside you. It's never your choice to murder an innocent human life.
Condom broke: Sex is sacred, more than just a physical transaction. If you have sex, you should be ready for parenthood. Contraception has never been 100% effective. You should take responsibility for your actions. There are always other options besides murder.
Rape and Incest: You are punishing innocent human life for existing. Punish murders for murdering, kill people in self defense, but don't punish a baby for the crimes of its father.
What it comes down to is an innocent human life, and you can never justify the murder of innocent human life. I am pro several choices: abstinence, adoption, and motherhood."

"People keep arguing that "it's her body, so it's her choice." Problem is, it isn't her body she's choosing for. The body being killed belongs to the child. It has it's own independent genetics, its own cells, its own structure, its own everything. If the woman's choice matters so much now, why didn't it matter when she was the one defenseless in her mother's womb? What if her mother had aborted her? Then she wouldn't have gotten to choose what happened to her body. But now that she can care for herself, her choice matters and her baby's choice doesn't? What if her baby grows up to be a woman who ends up pregnant? Then does her baby's choice matter? I say, let the child be born and grow up, then ask the baby (now a child) if they'd like to be killed so that their mother doesn't have to pay for them anymore because they are such a terrible burden on their mother, and should never have been so inconsiderate as to be born, see how that child reacts. The mother already chose what happened to her body when she had sex. Rape is an exception, not the rule. And rape, while terrible, still wasn't the child's choice, so why should the child be punished? Punish the rapist. Children are a blessing, not a punishment. Wherever they come from."

You can't have hopes and dreams or want to experience things because you don't know what there is to experience. From my research, I believe that abortion is preventing a child from being unloved by the parents who made the mistake of getting pregnant. Even if the child was to go up for adoption, that could still put the child at risk of having unloving parents anyway. I hope to see your response and viewpoint on my comment soon! :)"

"Abortion should not be legal under any circumstance. The baby is a life with a soul from the moment of conception, and the baby is a separate human. The baby should not have to die because the mother CHOSE to have sex. Even if she used protection and birth control, there is always a risk and she chose to take that risk. In cases of rape, the baby should not die because someone raped the mother. Two wrongs do not make a right. As far as disability and Down Syndrome go, why on earth does the baby deserve to die because it is not like everyone else? When my mama was pregnant with my sister and me, neither her nor my father even wanted the Down Syndrome test because it did not matter. Would you love your child less if he or she was disabled? Even if the child may die, would it be better for the baby to surely die, or would you rather he or she have a fighting chance? Miracles happen. And if the mother may die, miracles can still happen. Any good parent would die for their child. A baby is neither the mother's body nor property, and she cannot kill the baby indiscriminately. The law counts killing a pregnant woman as double homicide, and if someone else who kills the baby is charged with murder, so should the mother and doctor."

The baby's not ready to die! But yet, you're taking its life! There are so many women out there who would LOVE to have a baby of their own but the doctor's tell them that they can't have children. I don't think the baby should pay for YOUR mistakes! If you're gonna have sex, use a freaking condom, like, seriously. You could always give the baby to someone that you know that may not be able to bear children, or just give he/she to a family member that you know will take good care of him/her. That way you can still watch the child grow. If you get an abortion, then you're only thinking about yourself. If you're not ready to take care of a child, then don't have unprotected sex, period. I don't care how unready you are to take care of a child, you should not kill it. Abortion is murder. Let's face it, a lot of women who commit abortion do so primarily because they want to preserve their good looks, shapely body, keep looking sexy and not look pregnant with a big belly poking infront of you..
there is also a good bunch who even do it because they're scared....the pains of childbearing, the concept of bring a mother..etc.
And look, most of these people on the Pro side keep saying Ahhh, what if Susan was raped? she wouldnt be excited about keeping the baby of a rapist. . yes, true there are rape cases here and there but you and I both know that a much larger percentage of abortion cases result from consensual sex. Boyfriend Girlfriend sex... screwing your husband's brother sex, etc
And duhh. Girls from rich homes and comfortable lifestyles abort too. Alot of them actually and several times for some,
I'm from a country that is not considered very prosperous like the great America and abortion access can be rather expensive. Those who seek it are mostly those who can afford it.

Food was not on the table; the water and electricity were constantly being turned off at home. But my mother chose life-- she told no one she was pregnant; my aunt that I now live with due to the foster care system did not even know I existed until my oldest brother spilled the news. Foster care before my home now was rough, too -- I lived with girls who cut up my clothes and beat me. My father essentially is a pedophile; I haven't seen my mother in over a year. However, even in the terrible conditions that I had to be born into, four years later, my mother chose life again: my sister. I would have given up so long ago if I didn't feel like I should protect my sister. My sister was the only stable thing in my life; sure, we fight, but I love her. Every fetus that is killed in abortions could save another's. They can change the world; each and every one of them. She saved mine. That is why I am Pro-Life."

"I was wrong to suggest pregnancy as a consequence-- however, it is not abuse to a woman to feed a child. That simply is what a fetus is-- shooting someone on accident and someone asking you to give blood is no where near the same as making poor choices and ending up pregnant with a human life to care for. It is not abuse to take care of another human being at an idle expense. I have no doubt in my mind that these women do not realize what they are ending. It is not a problem with the body they have no liability for-- a child is a delicate being. That does not make it a higher class. Women are not subclass to begin with let alone being abused by being asked to carry a child as a result of bad decisions. Women deserve the best care they can receive as well as paid maternal leave-the real enslavement here is to assume carrying a child is abuse and a limiting factor in the success of women. Marrow is not the same as food for a developing child which has a right to life along with its mother and it is rather unlikely that we would force marrow donations. And since when were children in the womb seen as victims and mothers as murderers? That is a poor analogy. That's not higher class. Human equality for all stages is lost in your point."

"Seaira--You are missing the point. Every action has a potential consequence, but only when pregnancy is a consequence do we decide that a woman becomes a subclass that can be abused. I could accidentally shoot my hunting buddy in the butt causing him to need a blood transfusion, and even though it was my fault no one will suggest I be the one to donate the blood. Only fetus are given such an extraordinary class of their own that we would consider requiring them to be fed. Kids go hungry every day, but we talk about requiring women to use their body to feed a fetus. What is horrendous is that you think that "saving a life" excuses abusing someone. Where does it stop? I have friends now saying that parents should be required to donate blood, marrow, and organs to all progeny as needed. Maybe tomorrow it won't sound so far fetched to have mandatory blood and marrow donations. After all, people die every year waiting for marrow. You murdered; how dare you not share your marrow!"

"No, because every mother has a choice whether or not to have the child. For some circumstances, the mother feels that she MUST abort the child for personal reasons."

"Personally, I believe that abortion is wrong and should not be allowed. Abortion is murder. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government. Even if the baby hasn't been born yet, it is still the killing of an innocent human being which is the definition of murder. Also, abortion is proving that you aren't responsible or ready to have a child which shows that you shouldn't even be having sexual intercourse if you aren't prepared for that. People need to take responsibility for their actions and accept whatever consequences that come their way. This is an important issue because it is impacting an underdeveloped embryo's life as well as a mother's. It can lead to future medical problems for the mother. Depending on what you believe, it still has impact on a human life which is why it is still an issue. This can be viewed in many different ways because some are pro choice and some are pro life. It depends on what you believe in but it all comes down to whether or not it should be legal or illegal which divides us all because no one can seem to agree on a decision to satisfy everyone."

"You say "abortion is proving that you aren't responsible or ready to have a child which shows that you shouldn't even be having sexual intercourse". Do you expect married people to never have sex? I know plenty of married people who have had abortions. I also know married people who are done having kids. The average family has about 2.5 kids. That is a lot of time you are expecting married people to not have sex. Lofty goal, but unrealistic."

Society could just as easily decide that anyone who did't donate blood was a murder because people die without the donation. And that is just blood. Imagine donating your whole body!"

"abortion is bad, instead of pushing to make it illegal, we should first go straight to the heart of it and defund planned parenthood we should, with that money, make more women's programs for those who don't want to abort their babies. Then, after all that is done, we can outlaw abortion so our future generations won't make the same terrible mistakes we did."

"A baby in your stomach has been waiting at least 40 weeks to see his own parents and live as a human being. Abortion is basically killing it. That's murder right there. And also, it's basically your fault for having the baby. You chose to have sexual intercourse, so sorry honey. Learn responsibility. You should've thought this further."

"Ok. Well let me reword this. You're basically killing an innocent human being who is waiting to be born and see his family. Unborn babies are considered human beings by the US government. Also, the federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act was to protect unborn children from assault and murder, meaning that anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should be punished. Abortion can cause problems for women at the end. Example: It can cause physiological damage. Based on a peer review in 2005, people who went on abortion had very high scores on anxiety and depression. More than 173,000 American women were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term. Another study was that Social and Clinical Psychology study of men who partners who had abortions found that 51.6% of the men reported regret, 45.2% felt sadness, and 25.8% experience depression."

"Consent to sex is not consent to pregnancy, first off. Secondly, it's not "responsibility", what you want is two lives ruined, you're basically wanting a child to grow up unloved or in a system that will do nothing to protect it."

""Stop telling women what they can and can't do with their bodies." is a terrible argument. I'm a male and I get told what I can and can't do with my body too. I'm not allowed to use my body to stab someone or steal from someone."
